VISION

Challenge for women envisions inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold with the knowledge that she can strive to become the best person she can.

MISSION

Challenge for women will educate all segments of the community about the nature of discrimination & abuse against the girl-child, and will provide care & support services to adolescent girls in the community of Greater Edendale & Surrounds.

Goals:

  1. Bringing girls together to share their stories & listen to the needs of the girl children
  2. Addressing local church leaders to challenge the churches perspective of the girl child and increase equality as seen through the Bible ~ Educate your community leaders on the potential of the girl child and her role to transform the community
  3. Launch a campaign speaking out against one of the issues facing the girl child
  4. Call for cultural accountability when extreme violence is involved
  5. Take survey of the resources available in our community for the girl child and share them with others.

Our programs conform to the notion of empowerment:

Challenge for Women firmly believes & affirms that empowerment is a process of facilitating, instilling, and providing the means for young girls who come from previously disadvantaged areas to overcome the obstacles they face to attaining full access to their human rights, this is what we want to instill in girls especially in Greater Edendale & surrounds to restore their lost confidence due to harmful actions perpetrated against them by family members & the community at large.

The empowerment of abused & neglected girls in Greater Edendale & surrounds is pivotal to their transformation into powerful leaders who are able to walk in the fullness of their potential. While girls have the ability to address the challenges they face, to do so they need external support. We intend to provide the means for girls to stand up in exploitative situations and claim their rights. Our programs do not seek to give a fish, but rather to give a fishing rod. Given the many obstacles girls face in Greater Edendale & surrounds it is imperative that we develop a critical mass movement at the grassroots level that is vibrant and well coordinated to break the cycle of poverty and violence.

This program promotes a culture of prevention and provides girls with the life skills necessary to be self-sustaining and independent. Empowerment is a lifetime investment that girls will perpetually benefit from, therein bettering their lives, communities, and the nation. CFW programs support and promote   girls’ rights, empowerment and education by reaching out to and advancing the circumstances of girls wherever they are economically deprived, at risk of abuse, subject to harmful cultural practices, or living in areas of instability.
